Chayse is scarred and lives under the heavy weight of many conflicting feelings of guilt, anger and betrayal – he chooses to ‘deal’ with this buy burying himself in a haze of alcohol and women. Mirelle is broken but trying to build a life for herself regardless of the traumatic experiences in her past. These two are both equally lost and hurting when Mirelle stumbles upon him in a hallway, balls deep in another woman. After the initial embarrassment they realise they are both working at the same bar. Both are quick to make judgments about the other but their animosity soon turns into friendship.
These characters are flawed and carry a lot of baggage but will they be able to heal each other, or will their love turn toxic?
Scared of Exposure deals with some heavy issues and it definitely cannot be classed as a sweet little romance. As the attraction between them becomes harder and harder to resist, they also need to deal with outside forces hindering the progress of their healing, even though their friendship also helps them find the strength to overcome their fears. It all made for a deeply passionate and somewhat heart-breaking romance.
Incidents in this book happen at a very quick pace and the transition from each instance to another was a little abrupt and at first I had a hard time sinking my hooks into the story or forming a connection to the MCs and their relationship. However, once I got used to the flow of the book I enjoyed all the angst and tension between them – the only thing that seemed to happen slowly was the build-up between them and it made for some hot sexy times.
All in all an enjoyable book with some raw and gritty moments. It’s a fairly quick read, but if you’re expecting a cute romance, this book won’t be for you.

FOUR Stars!

I received an ARC for an honest review of Scared of Exposure (Scared #3) by Jacqueline Abrahams

Chayse and Mirelle have a love story that is unlike any other, it's not pretty or kind and it certainly has some intense moments. Mirelle has lost her parents, her lifelong boyfriend has cheated and without giving away some of the story, more bad things have occurred. Chayse lost his parents at a young age, the love of his life and has been betrayed by his own cousin and family. Chayse and Mirelle have major issues, including the fact that both run from their problems. But what happens when two people who have been through so much learn to trust and love again? Could they save one another?

~ Jackie
This is a beautifully written second chance love story about two broken people who are able to

find each other and put themselves back together and I loved reading this! Mirelle has been through

some pretty difficult situations and had things happen to her that have left their fair share of scars and

she’s broken as a result. Chayse has been through his share of bad experiences as well and has resorted

to numbing it all out through the use of alcohol and numerous sexual encounters with women. The two

are brought together and immediately recognize the shared pain in the other which draws them in like a

moth to flame. The chemistry between them is intense from the second they lay eyes on each other,

which just happens to be while Chayse is banging another random woman up against a wall and they are

helpless to fight against this force pulling them together. The big problem here is that with both of them

carrying such intense baggage and emotional scars they can either be the best thing to happen to each

other, or end up being toxic for each other and this causes them to be reluctant to give in to the way

they feel for each other. I found myself torn between which direction their relationship was heading at

several points throughout this book and was dying to find out what would happen in the end. While I

wanted more than anything for them to be able to fix the other and end up whole together, I just wasn’t

sure if that was going to be the case here and it killed me to have to wait to find out.

This is a beautiful love story about finding beauty in the midst of the aftermath of tragedy and I

loved every single second of reading this! This story carries with it an inspirational message that it is

never too late for anyone to find love and that no matter what has happened in the past it does not

mean you can’t have a happy future. Everyone deserves to find happiness and love and I love that this

author chose to write this amazing story. I have quickly come to love this author and I hope to see much

more of this series in the future! I highly recommend this book and this entire series to anyone to read!
*I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review from the New Adult Book Club*

First off, I have to admit that I've been on a streak where I do not read previous books in a series before I dive in to the say third book or so. However, luckily for me they are mostly standalones! Not reading the previous book didn't hinder my enjoyment in any way, but now I'm craving to read the others!

Scared of Exposure was a very interesting read. Mirelle has spiraled down a dark path ever since her parents have passed, and the path gets darker when she head to Vegas to begin anew temporarily. Then there's Chayse *swoon*. He has so many scars that I'm sure he's even lost count of them. Both of their stories are pretty sad, but they make a beautiful story. I love imperfect characters, and these characters could not have been better written! Anyways, these two are 'scared to expose' themselves because the believe this could lead to even worse heartbreak. But risks are meant to be taken and rules broken.

This was a magnificent read! I will definitely be checking out the previous books! I also must admit that though Chayse was less than ideal at first glance, he really develops and grows. Mirelle was a very strong character and though she did cry a couple times, what girl doesn't ever cry? I loved it and I highly recommend this to others!!!
